The box-type substation is composed of high-voltage distribution equipment, power transformers, and low-voltage distribution equipment. It is installed in a metal box, with each of the three parts of equipment occupying a separate space and being isolated from each other. The box-type substation is a relatively new type of equipment. It has developed from the initially relatively simple equipment to the current more complete and reliable equipment. It has the following advantages:
(1) It has a small footprint and is easy to acquire land for installation. It is suitable for use in densely populated urban areas, rural areas, residential communities, etc. It facilitates the extension of high-voltage lines, reduces the power supply radius of low-voltage lines, and lowers line losses.
(2) Reducing the cost of civil engineering foundations can be achieved through factory production, which shortens the on-site construction period, requires less investment, and yields significant results.
(3) Small in size and light in weight, making it easy to transport or relocate.
(4) New types of equipment such as fully sealed transformers and SF6 switchgear can be adopted. These devices have the characteristics of long service life, no maintenance requirements, and comprehensive functions. They can be used both at the terminal and in the ring network. (5) It has a novel and attractive appearance and is widely used for temporary electricity supply in construction projects, as well as in industrial parks, residential areas, commercial centers, etc. It is in harmony with the environment.
