(1) The ground where the box-type transformer is placed should be selected at a higher position and not at a low-lying area to prevent rainwater from seeping into the box and affecting the operation of the equipment. When pouring the concrete platform, there should be a gap on both the high and low voltage sides to facilitate the laying of the cable inlet and outlet. When excavating the foundation, if there is a ground composed of garbage or rotten soil, it must be dug down to the solid soil, then backfilled with good soil and compacted, and then filled with three-part soil or road slag to ensure the stability of the foundation.
(2) The grounding and neutral lines of the box-type substation share the same grounding grid. The grounding grid is typically formed by driving grounding stakes at the four corners of the foundation and then connecting them together. The box-type substation must have two reliable connections to the grounding grid. After the substation is in operation, it is necessary to frequently check the grounding connection points to ensure they are not loose or rusted. Regularly measure the grounding resistance value, and the grounding resistance should not exceed 4Ω.
(3) The box-type substation is mainly cooled by natural air circulation. Therefore, no unauthorized items should be piled up around it. In particular, the door of the transformer room should not be blocked, and the debris attached to the ventilation holes of the louvers should be regularly removed to ensure that all electrical equipment does not exceed the maximum allowable temperature.
(4) After the low-voltage circuit breaker trips, the cause of the trip should be checked before attempting to restore power. If the power restoration fails, the fault must be thoroughly identified and eliminated before power can be restored to prevent the accident from escalating. (5) In the high-voltage distribution room of the box-type transformer, zinc oxide surge arresters should be installed. The installation method must be convenient for testing, disassembly, and replacement.
(6) For the ring network switches, transformers, lightning arresters and other equipment in the high-voltage distribution equipment, regular inspections and maintenance should be carried out. Defects should be promptly repaired and insulation preventive tests should be conducted regularly. If the box-type substation is out of service for more than 3 months, a comprehensive preventive test should be carried out before it is put back into operation.
(7) When replacing a high-voltage fuse without breaking capacity, the transformer must be powered off. During the operation, the mechanical interlock must be correctly disengaged and an insulated operating rod should be used. (8) All the cable holes for incoming and outgoing lines in the box-type substation should be sealed to prevent small animals from entering and causing accidents. (9) Warning signs indicating high-voltage hazards and the nameplates and serial numbers of electrical equipment must be present.
